Positions available year-round

Health center internships available in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Hazleton, Reading, Scranton, Stroudsburg and Wilkes-Barre.

Other internships are available in Trexlertown only.

Health Center

Interns at PPNEP health centers have a wide range of responsibilities including counseling on birth control options and reproductive health; patient education, scheduling and charting; and general office responsibilities.  With additional training, PPNEP interns provide pregnancy options counseling to patients.  All health center interns are required to attend an initial orientation and training in addition to in-service training at the health center.  Required work hours and days are set by the center manager.

Public Information/Public Affairs

Each position is tailored to the time allowance and skills of the intern.   Projects might involve developing and implementing outreach methods for high school and college students, publicity for agency events, voter registration, contact with elected officials, design and execution of printed materials -- the possibilities are wide-ranging.  When practical, the intern will handle at least one component which can be followed to conclusion by the end of the internship.

Health Care Administration

Internships focus on planning and program/business development.  Working with the vice president for program development, interns will be involved in the development process of specialized programs and strategies.  Interns may also assist with grant information and will interface with every department on a regular basis.  Interns are required to commit to a minimum of one semester.

Patient Services

Working with the director of patient services, interns will assist in the development of special programs and help in the production of information packets for our patients.

Education

Education interns will provide research and revision assistance on educational materials, information packets, and fact sheets pertinent to PPNEP.  Working with the director of education, interns will provide community education programs, help with the marketing of programs to schools and other organizations, and assist with the development of specialized programs.  Intern schedules can be flexible, but a minimum of eight hours per week is required.

Development

Interns work with both staff and volunteers, and assignments will vary depending on the time of year.  Possibilities include assisting with special events, foundation research, data management, mailings, and production of various written materials.
