Local anesthesia alone
Local anesthesia with IV sedation

Numbing medication to ease discomfort.

Extra medication to put you in a light sleep.

You must be accompanied by a driver who waits for you in
the waiting room.

You may spend more time resting in the recovery room.

Do not drive for 24 hours after receiving IV sedation.
After the abortion
-
Schedule a post-abortion exam for 2 - 3 weeks after surgical,
1 week after medication
abortion.

Avoid intercourse until after this post-abortion exam.

Call with any problems via 24-hour phone number.
Warning signs - call immediately

You have a fever of 100.4' F or higher.
-
You have very heavy bleeding - soaking up one or more maxi
pads in one hour or less.

You have clots larger than your thumb, with heavy bleeding.

You have severe or continuous cramping.
Payment

Partial payment is due at the first visit.

Balance is due the day of your procedure.

There may be additional fees for IV sedation, Rhogam if you
are Rh negative, Depo-Provera and other contraceptives.

Medical Assistance

In Pennsylvania MA will only fund abortions in certain
cases of rape, incest or life endangerment.

Planned Parenthood offers reduced fees for
Medicaid-eligible patients.
Insurance

Some plans will pay for abortion.
