How many?

Nearly 200 volunteers were recognized in 2005 for giving time to our local Planned Parenthood.

How often?

Volunteers have given anywhere from ten hours per year to 20 hours per week for a whole year.

Who?

Retirees, students, homemakers, business people, crafters, artists, musicians, technical experts, writers, computer wizards, fix-it people, activists, people who remember how Planned Parenthood helped them or someone they know -- people like you.

How?

Fill out a volunteer application and send it in or, call 1-800-935-0689 and say you're interested in volunteering.

What?

All of Planned Parenthood’s departments use volunteers.  Some tasks or positions require training.  Other tasks can be done on an on-call basis.

Health Center  (training provided)

• work alongside the staff

• answer phones

• schedule appointments

• check in clients

• answer client questions

• counsel clients about contraceptive options (additional training required)

Education  (training provided)

• provide education programs to schools, agencies and community groups

• staff health fair tables

Development   (training provided)

• help to raise funds for programs and services

• work on special events like auctions by planning, organizing or helping on the day of the event

• use computer skills for data base management

• design and lay out programs and mailings

Public Affairs  (training provided)

• join the PPNEP local action alert network

• join the nationwide Planned Parenthood e-mail network

• visit, call, write, fax or e-mail elected officials

• staff tables at community events and concerts

General Administration  (training provided)

• provide clerical help in the Trexlertown office

• prepare mailings

• use computer skills
